B.A. Applied Theology

The degree course is your first step on the path to becoming a parish assistant and also qualifies you for the profession of permanent deacon. The course provides you with personal, professional and organizational skills with which you can enter into a responsible dialogue on questions of life and faith and reflect on this theologically.

You will acquire basic knowledge of the Christian faith and how to act out of Christian responsibility. You will be prepared to sensitively perceive people's hopes and fears in life in order to support and accompany them as a pastor in the responsible shaping of their lives and their search for meaning. You will learn how to encourage people to develop their faith. You will learn how contemporary forms of faith communication can be developed with the help of your knowledge and experience. You will learn how to initiate and shape religious learning and educational processes in different contexts of the community, school and social space. The course encourages you to actively help shape the church as a community of living faith.
